There is no longer a legal limit on the number of attendees at civil partnerships or weddings. However, to ensure that we are able to continue to deliver our service safely, the number of people who can attend a wedding and civil partnership at our register offices continues to be restricted and our staff will continue to maintain social distancing until further notice.
Before you can marry or form a civil partnership there are certain formalities that are required by law. You need to make an appointment for both partners to attend the register office so you can inform them of your intention to marry or form a civil partnership. Weddings and civil partnerships can now take place in our register offices, but numbers are restricted. If you have a wedding ceremony booked in a church, hotel or other venue, please contact them directly if you have any queries or require further information. Wedding receptions are not permitted so please contact your venue should you have a reception booked.
